Got rodents! We can help!
Feline-Canine Friends has several working cats to help with those pesky rodents. These cats aren't cut out for the cushy life of an indoor pampered kitty. They prefer an environment like a barn, stable, or warehouse where they can do what they do best: control rodents! You provide food, water, and shelter--they'll do the rest!
Spring is the perfect time to introduce two* (or more!) of our awesome felines to your property!
The Training Period
-
All rehomed cats must go through a “training period” for 2-3 weeks on the new property. This period will help the cat acclimate to the new surroundings, including shelter, food, water sources, as well as the new sights and sounds of the new property. If released without this training period, cats may attempt to return to their former location, but will most likely get lost and possibly perish. This space must fully contain the cat(s) during the adjustment period.
-
While the cats are confined, the caretaker must provide clean water, food, a pet carrier or similar container where they can hide, and a litter box (scooped daily). Providing canned (wet) food during this period will help them feel comfortable in their new environment and entice them to stay!
-
Also, during this training period, if you’re up to it, make contact with the cats by talking to them. This sometimes helps make a successful relocation.
After Completion of the Training Period
The new caretaker must continue to provide:
-
daily food & water. We recommend feeding in the morning and removing any leftover food before sundown, as this could attract other unwanted critters (i.e., raccoons, possums, etc.)
-
provide a year-round shelter for the cats that provides adequate protection from the elements, such as a shed, barn, garage, or maybe even a custom cat house!

* Unless you have other cats, two are recommended. A single cat will most likely NOT stay.
